The Birkenstock materials
Natural leather.
Natural leather can be recognised by the typical different scar and colour image on the surface. These differences are not compensated by us, so the always individual character of the natural matte surface is preserved.
Smooth leather.
Our smooth leather feels very fine grained and even and has a slightly shiny surface. Due to its high elasticity, tensile and abrasion resistance, it is resistant to external influences and thus guarantees a long service life. It is also easy to clean and breathable.
Nubuck leather.
For nubuck leather, the natural grain structure of the leather is polished. This cut gives the leather a fine texture.
Suede.
For our suede shoes, only extra-strong leather is used, which is at the same time extremely durable. Here too, slight differences in structure are a hallmark of the real leather.
Embossed leather
The Birkenstock leather has a special embossing.
Birko-Flor.
Birko-Flor is a skin-friendly, tear-resistant and easy-care material. The top layer of this material has a leather-like structure - the bottom layer is processed with soft fleece.
Birko-Flor Nubuck
This material has a special finish that not only looks like nubuck leather, but also feels like it.
Birko felt.
Birko felt consists of a cellular wool blend and synthetic fibre felt. In this way, the blend fabric becomes virtually untearable, but still breathable and skin-friendly.
